Mom and Dad,  Congrats on your 50+ years of wedded bliss. You deserve all the credit in the world for making it this long.  You've always provided me and Bill (and everyone else) an awesome example of how to be good people, good Christians, great parents and partners, and been an example I hope to be able to live up to.  If I'm only half the parent you guys have been, my daughters will be in great shape!
Love you always, Lance, Linda, Lauren and Lindsay

Bill and Dottie,
Congratulations on your 54th wedding anniversary!   Having you as friends is a blessing, and we love you both!

Dear Bill and Dottie,
Congratulations on your 54th anniversary! Together, you have not only helped each other, but have helped others along the way.

I have had the privilege of being involved with you in church and Habitat, and have seen the amount of time and effort you both have provided to help both organizations and participants.

I am especially glad each Sunday to be greeted by both of your smiles. Dottie, you always brighten my day when I ask " how are you doing?" , and give me a hug and reply, " I'm doing ".
So as you move toward your 55th, just keep on doing !
Gary Smith

Dear Dottie and Bill,

We understand that this is your 54th anniversary. Congratulations! We have known you as good friends for the greater portion of that time – more than forty years. We have had great times at the beach kite flying, shell hunting, wave dodging, seafood eating and some of us bikini watching, but not much fishing.

The Australian adventure was one of the best remembered, with camel riding, mutton eating, snorkel diving, zip line zipping, luge riding, Uluru and the Great Outback where the Alice Springs River Regatta was called off because it rained and there was water in the river.

The card making, stamping and embossing partying was an enjoyable opportunity for the females of the species to be away from the males. We, and many others, have always been able to count on you whenever and wherever you were needed. We have long enjoyed your hospitality with a glass of wine and good conversation and hope to enjoy that for years to come.

With great love and affection,
Cliff and Donna Shiblom

Congratulations to Bill and Dottie.  I always look up to these guys, and don’t know how they do it.  I feel like my body is telling me to slow down, and I can’t begin to imagine what theirs is telling them.  I’m only turning 64 in a couple of months, so it’s amazing they’re still doing it.  He’s an inspiration.

I am passing along a note and picture for the slideshow. My boys, Cooper and Cameron, absolutely love your mother!!! They are both very particular with whom they share their affection. Every Sunday, Dottie is the first person they look for and they insist on giving her a hug. They fight over who gets to sit next to her during the service and they can't leave without telling her goodbye.

We absolutely adore your parents and they are a big part of why we decided to become members of First Presbyterian. Their acceptance and love for everyone in the church is what makes that place so special.

We wish them peace and love for many years to come.

Bill and Dottie, you have no idea how you have blessed our lives and countless others. George often remarked on his favorite childhood gift made by Bill, Fort George. I was blessed to gain a sister and brother of my heart on 28 February 1976. We have enjoyed loads of laughter and some sadness but mostly joy.

laughter fun times as well as sad ones. The two of you were my rock after George's death and I will never be able to repay your kindness. Your anniversary is like a beacon on a hill from the covenant you made 54 years ago. You have been steadfast not only to each other but separately and together in enhancing the lives of many. Wishing you only the best in the upcoming years and a BIG thank you for being part of my life.
Love and Hugs, Mary Ellen

My name is Mike Pelzer and serve as Executive Director of Green Country Village, a retirement community that Bill has been instrumental in visioning, working toward, building and operating.  Since it’s inception, Bill has served on the Board of Trustees in one capacity or another, and has been my ‘go to’ source for history, construction advise, guidance on building troubleshooting—you name it!

I didn’t know how extensive you wished to see input, but know that there would be no Green Country Village if there hadn’t been a Bill Millis.
Best Wishes, Mike Pelzer

Congratulations to a great couple on your anniversary.  We hope you enjoy many more celebrations together.  Timothea enjoyed playing tennis with Dottie for several years before both of you retired your rackets for other pursuits.  Bill, you and I have been working together for years at Habitat.  You have been wonderful force in advancing this organization to a efficient machine of volunteers.   We really appreciate all your efforts on the board of directors and in the construction phase of many houses along with rebuilding the warehouses.  We always value your opinion on any problem that arises and corrections of my mistakes.  We look forward to continue working with you for many more years.
Best Wishes. Tim and Timothea Murtha

Dearest Bill and Dottie,
What has happened to all of the years since Bill came to Virginia Beach to introduce us to his new bride?  Back then we all had hair, and it was brown, and we were sooooo young!

That was just the beginning of our long and very special relationship, it has included trips and visits and stitches and adventures and lots of laughter and happy times and tears and so much more!  All the things that make up family and a wonderful life.

We're  so glad that you are our brother and sister-in-law and that we've had the opportunity to be a part of your lives because you are both very dear and special to us!

Congratulations on your anniversary, lots of wishes for many more years, and our love always,
Frank and Sue

Bless you for all the love, support and good humor ! I get by with a little help from my friends. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
Judy Sutton

I just thought of a funny memory from the beach when your folks in our beach group we all used to go to the beach in North Carolina. One time your mom brought flying monkeys for each of us. They were stuffed critters you threw around and they squealed. We had more fun with those monkeys. Also brought to mind the different Christmas gifts your dad made from wood for the beach group. One of the larger items we have in the sunroom with a big plant on it. Just good memories of over 40 years of friendship.
